Revolutionary recovery version of Cabstar

28th July 2009 Print
Nissan Cabstar Nissan’s popular light duty truck, the Cabstar, is embarking on a new career – as a recovery and delivery truck. Capable of carrying vehicles as large as Nissan’s Pathfinder, the special UK conversion is set to become a valuable asset to vehicle operators as well as Nissan dealers.

With a body weight as low as 390kg, the latest addition to Nissan’s CV family offers a payload of up to 2336kg. That means even a Pathfinder or similar large 4x4 can be safely accommodated on the 4950x1950mm deck area. Eight lashing rings keep the vehicle secure, while operating flexibility is assured by the Cabstar 8000kg GTW giving customers the option of towing an additional vehicle using a suitable tow bar trailer combination.

Like any Cabstar, the 4.5 tonne (GVW) recovery/delivery vehicle comes with robust engineering, high quality features and sleek style as standard. The rear body is made from strong, durable light alloy, as are the standard loading ramps and load deck.

Other features include side body guards and marker lights, a flybridge with optional light bar and self-levelling air suspension at the rear. Further options include an electric 7.5 tonne winch to take the hard graft out of loading and unloading.

Ample power and torque is provided by Nissan’s efficient 2.5 dCi diesel engine in 130PS form, while even greater performance is also available from the 150PS 3.0-litre dCi. The larger engine is offered with the option of automated six-speed manual transmission for an even easier drive and lower emissions. whilst the manual can benefit from the option of a diesel particulate filter.

Safety is taken care of with standard anti-lock brakes with EBD and a driver’s airbag (passenger ’bag optional), while drivers will appreciate the Easy Hill Start function. All 4.5T Cabstars are equipped with a digital tachograph.

The Cabstar model range also includes a double-cab layout providing seating for five in a cabin updated only last year. Well-equipped with a radio/CD player, electric front windows, heated, electrically adjustable mirrors and plenty of in-cab storage areas, the interior is the ideal working environment. A wide range of additional features – from straps, handles and lockers to a variety of graphics packages – is available to make every Cabstar safe, efficient and different.

Although the recovery/delivery conversion is done in the UK, the special Cabstar is part of Nissan’s Approved Conversion range and comes with the company’s pan European warranty for maximum peace of mind.

“Our transporter delivers a combination of features high on the wish list of operators who are often based close to the action. Areas such as Urban, City, Rural and congested environments are places where manoeuvrability and smaller footprints offer distinct advantages over larger platforms but often compromise operating capability with limited payloads. Cabstar 4.5t offers a solution accommodating a variety of uses, a wide range of small, medium cars and most 4x4 products can be safely and speedily loaded as well as construction and plant equipment. Transporter is capable, compact, economical and highly manoeuvrable with an excellent payload plated at 4.5t GVW.”

Prices are from £26,900 for the 2.5 dCi 130 LWB 45:13 Pro + Chassis cab (46VNV3C01), and from £27,500 for the 3.0 dCi 150 LWB 45:15 Pro + Chassis cab (46VQV3C01).
