New student account helps with money management and entertainment costs
The 2007 student package from Yorkshire Bank offers a range of competitive benefits in a simple and accessible format, taking the hassle out of finance for students from their first year to their final exams.Providing all the advantages of a normal current account, students also have the benefit of a £1000 overdraft facility, to help that all important cash flow between student loan installments and a great interest rate of 3.3% on credit balances, encouraging them to spend wisely.
Gary Lumby, head of retail, Yorkshire Bank, said: “Today’s students are faced with increased pressure to manage their money well, but amazingly many are currently missing out by not opening a student specific account when they start their studies. Our package gives them all the tools they need including 24-hour internet and telephone banking and access to first hand practical support and specialist advice.”
As an additional bonus this year, Yorkshire Bank is also helping students fund their all-important social life by providing account holders with a cinema card that enables them and their friends to see the latest movies at half price for a full year.
Gary Lumby said: “Entertainment is still one of the greatest expenditures in a student’s life, accounting for 20.4% of total cost, which is why we decided to look at ways in which we could offer practical help to make sure it’s not all work and no play.”
From Tuesday 7th August, every student opening an account will receive a voucher for a 2 for 1 cinema card, valid at Vue and independent cinemas until September 2008.
Students who sign up early will also receive Ticketmaster vouchers (worth £100) which can be exchanged for tickets to music gigs, festivals, arts, theatre, and sports events, through the coming year.
Gary Lumby said: “Our new package is designed to help students enjoy university life, instead of spending their time worrying about finances.”
Students can open an account at any Yorkshire Bank branch. Further details of the account and branch locations are available at YBonline.co.uk.
