HSBC has relaunched HSBC Plus to offer even better service, greater value and more relevant benefits to people looking for more than just a current account.

Carlos Wanderley, General Manager, HSBC Customer Propositions, said: "HSBC Plus is a very good solution for people looking for more than just a current account. It is a now a tangible service proposition and a great platform from which to build a genuinely valuable relationship with your bank."

Originally launched in July 2005 as HSBC Bank Account Plus, HSBC Plus has an enhanced range of benefits and now also carries a formal service quality commitment outlining the service standards HSBC Plus customers can expect.

"This is more than words - it is how we intend to differentiate ourselves and how we will measure our performance," Mr Wanderley said.

"We have listened to our customers and redesigned the benefits to make them more relevant to our customers' banking needs with preferential pricing on a wide range of banking related products and service. What we are saying to customers is simple - give us your business and we will reward you."

HSBC Plus costs £12.95 a month for a minimum contract of 12 months.

The benefits offered to HSBC Plus customers include:

6% credit interest on the first £1,000 in the current account (0% thereafter)

worldwide family travel insurance valued at £180 and overseas cash withdrawals free of HSBC ATM transactions fees

HSBC roadside breakdown assistance valued at £92

free Text Banking (from October)

£3,000 of life cover for those customers aged under 65 and £3,000 of accidental death benefit for customers aged 65 and over

preferential rates and pricing on a range of products including mortgages, savings accounts, life cover, overdrafts and personal loans
