Britannia members share £51million

12th February 2007 Print
900,000 members of Britannia Building Society will share more than £51 million in the coming weeks thanks to its unique profit-sharing scheme.

The annual Britannia Membership Reward (BMR) returns a share of the Society's profits to its members to reward their loyalty. In the 11 years the scheme has been operating, more than £471million has been returned to members.

Members earn more reward for the more products they have and the longer they've been members of the Society. The average payment this year will be approximately £56.

Neville Richardson, Britannia's Group Chief Executive, explained; "The Britannia Membership Reward is unique and makes Britannia stand out from other financial services providers - when was the last time your bank sent you a cheque? As a mutual organisation our members are the owners of the business and we are committed to rewarding their loyalty by sharing our profits with them."
