Coventry Building Society, the UK’s 5th largest building society, held its Annual General Meeting last week.

Members voted overwhelmingly for the resolutions proposed at the meeting and at the same time raised money for the Society’s ‘Charity of the Year’, Royal National Institute of the Blind (RNIB).

This year over 104,700 members voted, raising a staggering £10,474 which will be donated to RNIB - 10p for every vote received.

David Stewart, the Society’s chief executive said: “I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our members for voting and for the overwhelming support they have shown. We are delighted that our charity of the year will benefit from such a substantial sum which will be used locally at the RNIB Rushton School and Children’s Home in Coventry.”

Lesley-Anne Alexander, Chief Executive at RNIB added: “Its wonderful news that Coventry Building Society has elected to donate 10p for every AGM vote received to RNIB – this very considerable sum will do much to help and improve the lives of children at Rushton School and Children's Home; we are deeply appreciative of Coventry Building Society’s commitment to raising funds for RNIB – their help and support will make a huge difference to the lives of blind and partially sighted people both in the local Coventry area as well as on a national level.”
