AEGON announces distribution partnership with Dunfermline Building Society

8th May 2007 Print
Dunfermline Building Society is to offer AEGON’s range of life assurance and protection products to customers through its branch and agency network.

The new insurance offering will see AEGON UK’s range of life assurance and protection products made available to Dunfermline customers, through its network of 34 branches and 38 agencies. AEGON products will be offered alongside eight other top insurers including; Norwich Union, AXA, Scottish Widows, Friends Provident & Bright Grey.

Established in 1869, Dunfermline Building Society is Scotland’s largest building society with over 350,000 customers across the country.

Buying a new home and remortgaging is one of the main reasons for people taking out or increasing their levels of life assurance, critical illness or income protection cover. Dunfermline currently offers its customers a range of protection products from Norwich Union. AEGON’s products will be available alongside these, giving customers greater choice.

Dunfermline branches will have access to the full product range, which will enable the Society to advise its members on the right level of cover and the right insurance for them.

This new arrangement represents a further step in AEGON’s distribution development strategy, which aims to broaden the range of ways customers can access their products and services. AEGON’s protection business is one of the most important growth areas in the group.

Niall Fraser, Head of Branch Sales at Dunfermline Building Society said: "Dunfermline Building Society has a great record in helping new and existing members to purchase their own homes, and develop new and innovative products such as the recently introduced graduate and professional mortgage. The added protection range will allow us to offer our members extra protection, personally, through our mortgage advisers within our branches and Dunfermline Direct. Through our own advisers not only can we give advice on their mortgage but now we can also look after their protection needs."

AEGON chief executive Otto Thoresen said: “One of our key aims for 2007 is to make AEGON’s range of products available to a wider range of customers and this new partnership represents an important step forward in this respect.

“Dunfermline is one of Scotland’s most highly respected financial institutions with a strong customer focus, which makes it an ideal partner for AEGON. We’re looking forward to working together in the future.”

AEGON’s protection product range including life assurance, critical illness cover and income protection cover under the AEGON Scottish Equitable brand will be available to Dunfermline customers from Monday 7 May.
