Yorkshire announces first three new branch locations

30th May 2007 Print
Yorkshire Building Society, which announced its commitment to open 15 new branches in the next three years, has named the first three.

Warrington, Chester and Oldham will all open in the Autumn this year, increasing the Society’s network of branches to 134.

Iain Cornish, Chief Executive commented, “We have exchanged contracts on the premises for our first three new branches, which all happen to be in the North West. We are continuing our search of suitable locations and premises across the UK and expect to announce further new branches either later this year or early next year.”

“Whilst the trend for many financial institutions is to close local branches, we consider the growth and development of our branch network as important as investing in our internet and telephone operations. Many of our customers value the personal service and face to face advice they get in a branch and we are delighted that we will be able to offer these services to the people of Warrington, Chester and Oldham.”

The new branches will create around 20 new jobs. The new managers have already been appointed and are now looking to find the right individuals to create a successful team. Like all Yorkshire Building Society branches, the new branches will all have fully qualified mortgage advisers who can offer advice, support and guidance to anyone looking for a mortgage. There will also be specialists to guide savers through the Society’s wide choice of accounts, and Legal & General advisers for investment customers.
