Find.co.uk highlights bank services for Polish speakers in Polish

11th June 2007 Print
The power of the Polish pound in the UK has spurred leading personal finance website Find.co.uk to launch a webpage in Polish, highlighting the various banking services available to the Polish community in the UK.

According to government figures, by the beginning of this year, an estimated 375,000 Poles had registered to work in UK, although the total Polish speaking population in the UK is believed to be 750,000.

By visiting find.co.uk/poland Polish speakers can access comprehensive information on bank accounts provided by Lloyds TSB, NatWest, HSBC and Barclays, specifically targeted at newly arrived Polish speakers in the UK.

These accounts cater for the special needs of Poles, who may have difficulty with opening bank accounts in the UK for the first time and who are likely to want low cost money transfer services to remit funds to their families in Poland.

Other information provided includes the high street banks’ provision of credit cards, mortgages and loans which can be difficult to obtain without a credit history.

Katarzyna Kopacz of the Polish Times says: “I think this initiative will be very useful for the Polish community around the UK, as there are a lot of Poles who don’t have very good English and this will help them a lot.”

Jakub Czernik, a journalist on the weekly newspaper, Polish Express, says: “This web page is very good as it puts all the necessary information in one place and tells a Polish speaker how to set up an account at a British bank.”

Kate Marsden, marketing director at Find.co.uk comments: “This is just the first of a number of initiatives we intend to provide for foreign language speakers in the UK, who may struggle with financial jargon and the documentation needed to open a bank account. We intend to follow this up with other similar initiatives, in keeping with Find.co.uk’s pioneering track record in the provision of comprehensive financial services data.”
