Society thousands up for grabs
Hundreds of charities and community groups across the nation could soon be benefiting from a cash boost as the Yorkshire Building Society Charitable Foundation invites people to nominate good causes to share in its annual charity give-away!‘Make a Difference Week’ runs from Friday 15th June until Saturday 23rd June, during which time existing customers and members of the public are invited to call into any of the Yorkshire’s 131 branches and 75 agencies to recommend a charity to receive a £50 grant.
The Charitable Foundation was founded in 1999 and has since donated more than £2.2 million to over 4,000 charities. It receives most of its funds through the Society’s unique Small Change Big Difference scheme where members donate just pennies from the interest they receive on their accounts to make a huge pot of charity money.
Louise Neill of the Foundation said: “Make a Difference Week offers the Society the chance to support smaller, local charities that are often overlooked by large organisations but are important to the communities where our staff and members live and work.
“Last year, over 500 local good causes were nominated for support during Make a Difference Week which resulted in over £40,000 being donated. I hope that this year’s event rivals this success and that hundreds of people will call into a Yorkshire branch to nominate their favourite local charity – together we can really Make a Difference!”
