Halifax pledges £100,000

29th June 2007 Print
Halifax announces it is making a donation of £100,000 to charities and other bodies to help people affected by the recent floods in Yorkshire and the Midlands.

Halifax has also set up a collection account in all of its branches so that members of the public can also make donations.

From Monday (2nd July), members of the public can make donations to the flood collection account at any of the 1,100 Halifax or Bank of Scotland branches across the UK. The Halifax £100,000 donation – and any contributions from members of the public – will go to the British Red Cross and other local charities and organisations involved in helping people affected by the floods.

Benny Higgins, Halifax retail chief executive, said: "Many people across the country have been affected by the floods. Our donation, alongside the collection account we are setting up, should provide some help for them at a very difficult time."
