Yorkshire Building Society announces new high street agencies
Yorkshire Building Society will open three new agencies on the South Coast at the end of August. The new agencies demonstrate the Society’s commitment to maintaining and expanding its high street presence at a time when many other financial institutions are closing branches.
This announcement follows the Society’s decision to open 15 new branches over the next three years, of which the first three will open this year in the North West.
The three new agencies will be based in Lewes (Adams & Remers Solicitors), Blandford (Chaffers Independent Estate Agents) and Broadstone (Advancefirst Mortgage & Property Brokers Ltd). Each has been acquired as a result of the planned merger between Nationwide and Portman building societies, who had planned to remove their services from these offices as, following the merger, their customers will have another branch available in the town.
The new branches and agencies will increase the number of places where Yorkshire members can do business to 205 by the end of this year.
Iain Cornish, Chief Executive at Yorkshire Building Society said, “We firmly believe that a great number of our members value a high street presence where they are able to seek professional advice face to face. The new agencies will improve our service to existing members and help us to grow our market share in the South.
“The expansion of the branch and agency network is not however at the expense of growth in other areas for us. Our website is fully interactive and mortgage and savings accounts can be processed in this way. Also our Member Contact Centre, which remains in the UK, is growing rapidly to meet the needs of those customers who prefer to deal with us by telephone.”
