Society goes wet ‘n’ wild for RNIB
A charity event organised by Coventry Building Society has raised almost £15,000 for Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB), the Society’s nominated charity of the year. The Coventry challenged other businesses, both locally and from further afield, to take to the water and enter teams to compete in Dragon Boats on the River Avon in Stratford-upon-Avon. Dragon Boat Racing is an addictive and exhilarating team event where the drummer beats out a rhythm for 10 paddlers to race the 30ft Hong Kong style Dragon Boats.
Richard Field, Head of Communications at the Coventry (and a team captain on the day) said: “I would like to thank everyone who took part and helped to make the day such a great success. To raise so much money for RNIB is fantastic."
Deborah Scott from RNIB Corporate Partnerships added: “We are delighted that the Coventry continues to support us with such exciting initiatives. The funds raised by this event will help us to support blind and partially sighted people locally and nationally.”
Teams that took part, as well as three from Coventry Building Society, included Barclays Bank, Consumer Direct Contact Centre, Deloitte, Ernst & Young, Hinckley & Rugby Building Society, HSBC, Mercers, Price Waterhouse Coopers, Vertex, Wolseley.
