BBA: Financial stability and depositor protection

The British Bankers' Association and its members have already raised many of the issues in the government's paper, 'Financial stability and depositor protection: strengthening the framework' and will now consider the detail of the document.

There is a twelve week consultation period and we will work closely with the government on developing its proposals to ensure a more effective system of regulating and overseeing the financial services industry. The aim must be to end up with a regime which protects the customer while allowing banks to continue to operate effectively and competitively in the global marketplace.
