HSBC loses disc with 370,000 customer details
Commenting on the loss of 370,000 customer details by banking giant HSBC, Kevin Mountford, head of savings at price comparison site moneysupermarket.com, said: “For a bank that prides itself on first class service this is unforgivable – it also doesn’t do anything to re-build confidence amongst consumers at a time when the banking sector is heavily tarnished following a series of high profile mishaps and blunders.”“Whilst HSBC have publicly stated that the possibility of any fraudulent activity against customers as a result of this loss is limited, there is still a risk to these so people must now be even more vigilant, regularly checking their accounts online, requesting mini-statements at the ATM and going through their statements with a fine toothcomb.
“If anyone sees even the smallest irregularity, they should report it immediately to HSBC.”
