Six figure donation to Coventry's charity of the year
Coventry Building Society is delighted to announce that it has hit its target donation to its first ever ‘Charity of the Year', Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB).A cheque for a staggering £100,000 was presented to RNIB at the Society's Annual General Meeting. The money has been raised over the course of the year from numerous fund raising activities undertaken by Society staff specifically for the charity.
In addition to staff fund raising, customers of the Coventry have also supported RNIB by making donations into RNIB's Sooty boxes which have been in every branch, as well as direct donations into the appeal account set up by the Society.
RNIB is the leading charity working in the UK offering practical support, advice and information to anyone with sight problems. The funds donated will primarily support RNIB's Rushton School and Children's Home in Wheelwright Lane, Coventry.
David Stewart, chief executive at Coventry Building Society said: "This is a fantastic result and the culmination of lots of hard work from staff throughout the Society. It's great to raise such a huge amount of money, much of which will go to help the development of Rushton School. We wish them well in the future."
Lesley-Anne Alexander, chief executive at RNIB said: " We are delighted to have been Coventry Building Society's first charity of the year and are grateful for the support and efforts of all involved at the building society. £100,000 is a staggering amount and these funds will make a huge difference - well done to the Coventry."
