Yorkshire announces two new branches
The feeling will be mutual in the West Midlands this year as Yorkshire Building plans to open two new branches. The branches, which will be in Wolverhampton and Solihull, are due to open in June and September this year.
The new offices are part of the Society's plan to develop and expand its branch network following the opening of three new branches in the last year, and will increase the Society's network of branches to 136.
Iain Cornish, Chief Executive commented: "We have exchanged contracts on the new premises and are currently in the middle of a major refurbishment. We are continuing our search for suitable locations and premises across the UK and hope to announce further new branches in the near future.
"Whilst the trend for many financial institutions is to close local branches, we consider the growth and development of our branch network as important as investing in our internet and telephone operations. Customer feedback from the opening of our three branches in 2007 has been very positive showing the benefit of having a high street presence. Many value the personal service and face to face advice they get in a branch and we are delighted that we will be able to offer these services to the people of Wolverhampton and Solihull."
The new branches will create around a dozen new jobs and like all Yorkshire Building Society branches, will all have fully qualified mortgage advisers who can offer advice, support and guidance to anyone looking for a mortgage. There will also be specialists to guide savers through the Society's wide choice of accounts and Legal & General advisers for investment customers.
