Support for Skipton remains strong
Members of Skipton Building Society have again shown their support for the mutual as 20% (around 94,000 members) voted in its Annual General meeting yesterday.Strong support was shown for the four directors standing for election, all receiving approximately 95% of the votes in favour. Stephen Haggerty and Peter Hales were newly appointed to the board. Existing directors Charles Hutton and Richard Twigg were re-elected. In addition, 91% of voters approved the Report on Directors' Remuneration.
John Goodfellow, chief executive, said, "As a mutual it's important to have the backing of our members and the AGM is a great opportunity for them to voice their views. It's comforting to know that so many are behind the Society during this turbulent time in the economy. This support will ensure that Skipton remains profitable in the future."
