Desperately seeking forgotten savers

10th September 2008 Print
Halifax has launched its 'Desperately Seeking' campaign - a renewed drive to reunite UK customers with forgotten funds. Having restored over £17.5million of dormant funds to date, Halifax has stepped up its reunification activity, highlighting all unclaimed cash and its location across the UK.

As momentum gathers and the second reading of the Government's dormant bill is scheduled for 6th October 2008, Halifax is urging customers to reclaim their money as soon as possible.

This week Halifax has undertaken fresh activity in its reunification drive:

All dormant account details are on the UK's Unclaimed Assets Register

Advertisements in national, regional and local press highlighting the money still to be reunited and how consumers can check if they have funds they could claim

Provided dormant data to local media across the UK

Tony Wilcox, head of savings at Halifax said "We want to highlight to UK consumers that dormant funds still exist all across the UK. We would urge customers to take note that money is still lying dormant and to come forward to check if they have dormant funds. At Halifax we have a dedicated team of colleagues to help customers check if funds are waiting for them to collect."

Four accounts with balances over £100,000 are still to be reunited

Over 25 accounts with balances over £50,000 are still to be reunited

Over 60 per cent of accounts holding over £10,000 have been reunited

70 per cent of accounts left to be reunited hold less than £50

UK consumers can check if they have unclaimed dormant funds via halifaxlocateaccounts.co.uk or alternatively via the BBA at mylostaccount.org.uk
