Tesco launches credit card and loan comparison services

23rd October 2008 Print
Tescocompare.com has announced the expansion of its non-insurance based comparison services with the launch of its credit card and unsecured personal loans comparison channels. The two new channels allow consumers to search without having to fill in their personal details.

Loans

The unsecured personal loans channel offers four search options and doesn’t run a credit check – so consumers don’t need to worry about one appearing on their credit history:

Quick search - consumers select the amount they wish to borrow, the duration and purpose of the loan. This is the quickest way to search and doesn’t require any personal details.

Tailored search - consumers select the features that are important to them - e.g. no arrangement fee, funds available immediately - to refine the search.

Search by what you can afford - an online calculator allows consumers to choose a loan based on how much they can afford in repayments.

Search by what you owe - a second calculator helps consumers to workout their monthly repayments based on their current debt to help their financial planning.

Eight on-screen filters allow consumers to compare features as well as select and compare four deals at one time. Consumers can compare deals based on: deferred payment start; extended repayment period; fixed rate; joint loans available; no arrangement fee; no early settlement fee; repayment break available; and, same day funds.

Credit Cards

When searching for credit card deals consumers have the following three options:

Quick search - in just one click consumers can compare credit card deals without having to enter any personal details.

Tailored search - consumers can choose the features that are important to them to refine their search - e.g. balance transfers, online access and brand name.

Card finder - by just typing in the name of the card or provider, consumers can review a particular card or different cards that are offered by that provider.

The credit card search channel allows consumers to compare up to four deals and features, using the five onscreen tabs: 0% purchase, 0% balance transfer; Cashback reward; Charity affiliation and Loyalty reward.

The site also provides guides to credit cards and unsecured personal loans explaining jargon and answering FAQs to help consumers choose the best deals for them.

Matthew Dransfield of Tescocompare.com comments: “At a time when many consumers are feeling the pinch, finding the best credit card or personal loan deal is very important and we want to help them do that.

“Our new credit card and loan channels not only compare but also explain jargon and answer common questions to help consumers choose the products that are right for them.”
