CreditExpert: 'Koobface' virus
Commenting on the recent ‘Koobface' virus on Facebook, Darryl Bowman Director of CreditExpert.co.uk, said: "Social networking sites like Facebook and MySpace are a magnet for identity thieves seeking innovative ways to source credit information from their potential victims. In addition to skimming accounts, thieves can use this stolen credit information to set up new lines of credit, which take - on average - 18 months to spot. Those most targeted by thieves are higher earners aged 26-45. People concerned about identity fraud, should check their credit report to see if anyone has applied for credit in their name.”
