As the recession takes hold in Britain, financial concerns and worrisome debts are affecting more people.

With UK debt increasing daily by an estimated £135 million, MORE TH>N Legal Services offers tools to help people get a grip on their finances in times of trouble.

Debt is a large problem in the UK; each day 298 people are declared bankrupt or enter into Individual Voluntary Arrangement (IVA). In the last year alone repayments on personal debt were a staggering £81.8 billion. MORE TH>N Legal Services, provides dedicated online, interactive documents that people can use to communicate with and offer solutions to creditors. Customers also benefit from a legal helpline for information on the law and debt.

Documents include:

Income and expenditure statement: This will layout your finances including, total income and expenditure, debts and arrears. The document will calculate surplus income, enabling decisions to be made on where to reduce expenditure, and how to use any surplus money.

Holding letter to creditor: The letter explains to a creditor that you are or will be having difficulties maintaining your payments. The document will ask the creditor to hold from taking any action in respect of the debt, until an anticipated improvement in your financial circumstances occurs.

Offer letter to creditor: You can use this letter to offer a solution to your creditor in respect of your debt.

Letter to mortgage provider: This document details proposals to repay arrears by instalments, or to request a payment holiday from your mortgage.

Head of MORE TH>N Legal Services Annette Lepper said, "In the current economic climate, people can become extremely worried about debt. It's tempting to bury your head in the sand and hope that the problem will go away, but people should tackle money problems at the earliest possible stage to prevent financial difficulties from spiraling out of control.

"MORE TH>N Legal Services provides customers with information and tools so they can take simple steps to assess their financial situation and hopefully get to grips in managing their debt. In today's climate it's imperative that people take debt support where it's available. "
