Leeds Building Society raises over £10,000 for Comic Relief

Leeds Building Society has raised over £10,000 for Red Nose Day 2009, in a combined effort from Society employees and members. Michael Ward, Leeds Building Society Press and P.R. Officer said, "I feel immensely proud of the efforts made and everyone had a lot of fun whilst raising money for a great cause at the same time.

"We raised £8,800 for Comic Relief on the last Red Nose Day in 2007, which we thought would take some beating, so to have increased that total and with donations still arriving on a daily basis really is impressive."

The fundraising activities taking place in Head Office saw the Society encourage very brave volunteers to parade their singing skills in the ABBA singstar competition. The day also saw the return of the dreaded ‘I'm a celebrity' inspired bushtucker trials. There was also fancy dress, leg waxing, cake and bun sales, Easter egg raffles, throw a wet sponge at your team leader and who's the bonny baby competition.

The fundraising spirit was also evident in the Branch network where staff were invited to wear fancy dress for the day, and customers visiting the branches were encouraged to donate to Comic Relief.
