Leeds Building Society Gibraltar fun day a great success
Leeds Building Society recently invited Gibraltarians to join them for their third annual fun day at the Piazza. Entertainment included a puppet show, face painting, arts and crafts and lots of balloons and other freebies. The event enabled people to meet the friendly team in the Branch.Simon Murphy, Gibraltar Branch Operations Manager said, "Our third annual Fun Day kicked off around 10 a.m. and we immediately started the lengthy task of blowing up masses of balloons for the lines of kids who wanted one. We also issued the free prize draw forms to everyone who was willing to take one and there was generally a good level of interest from those who took the leaflet. In addition to handing out to passers by, we also targeted local shops, stalls and cafes where the staff and customers could also enter the free ‘Win an MP3 player' prize draw.
"There was also a lot of entertainment available on the day for youngsters via face painting, a puppet show and arts and crafts. Any of the kids could line up to get a professional face painter to decorate them as anything from a lion to a butterfly to a mouse! Our regular puppeteer came along and entertained some large audiences with her ‘Shirley Bassey singing crocodile' the ‘Slinky Ostriches' and the ‘Silly Skeleton' all making an appearance. We also had on site a large crafts table where anyone willing could sit and design anything from a greetings card to a pencil and penholder for their desk.
"We raised over £120 for Childline Gibraltar through donations for the balloons that we handed out on the day. We also had 125 entries for our ‘Win an MP3 player' free prize draw. It was a successful day with positive feedback received from the public. We look forward to the fourth annual fun day in 2010."
