NatWest IPB launches secure multi-currency online banking system

Offshore banking provider NatWest International Personal Banking (IPB) reports a successful launch of their ibanking product; a unique advanced multi-currency internet banking system, allowing customers to access their account from anywhere in the world with the confidence that any transactions made are safe and secure. NatWest IPB has already signed up nearly 10% of its customer base since launch.

A survey undertaken with 500 of NatWest IPB’s customer base demonstrated that seven in ten users (70%) agreed that the new system made them more confident about banking online. With ibanking, customers can view their accounts using a unique customer number, PIN and password. However most customers wish to undertake payments to third parties or foreign exchange and ibankingplus provides the all important added security. This allows customers to confirm banking instructions using a smartcard and card reader providing even tougher barriers to prevent online fraud. ibanking plus also has the benefit of reduced fees when making international or immediate payments. Two thirds of users (64%) reported the smart card and reader easy to use, with the same proportion finding the online instructions easy to follow.

Eight in ten respondents recognised the need for a secure banking system, as although 93 per cent had installed firewall and anti-virus software on their PC/laptop, half (51%) had still received a phishing email, purporting to be from their bank.

Users of the ibanking system will be able to:

View sterling and currency account balances and statement of accounts

Transfer funds between NatWest accounts on any date up to 28 days in the future

See what payments have been made into and out of an account
