Clarion caters for all navigation needs

With shortcomings in satellite navigation frequently blamed for drivers going awry, Clarion – the world’s largest manufacturer of in-car audio, entertainment and satellite navigation solutions – is confident that its state of the art NAX973HD Hard Disk Drive technology can safely solve all navigation needs without leading you up the garden path.

With consumers increasingly seeking instant answers to their travel tribulations, and at an ever-decreasing cost, many manufacturers are opting to scale down the features they offer in exchange for presenting a limited package that works straight out of the box…a case of less for less.

In contrast, Clarion’s latest guiding masterpiece uses Hard Disk Drive technology to ensure that users get the most from their satellite navigation.

With map data for 30 countries pre-loaded on to the 30GB hard drive, the Clarion NAX973HD uses a powerful 400Mhz processor to calculate the most precise route information and guidance in an instant, whilst a built-in RDS-TMC tuner delivers up to the minute traffic information and automatic re-routing when necessary.

What’s more, by using a high sensitivity 12-channel GPS receiver, an on-board gyroscope and connecting to the vehicle’s speed sense circuit, the NAX973HD functions just like a factory installed navigation system to calculate where you are, which way you are going, whilst actually learning your driving habits to get you where you want to go faster in the future.

Safety is becoming an ever increasing concern when it comes to the use of satnav, and the NAX973HD boasts voice recognition and text to speech in 6 European languages, to ensure you don’t have to take your hands from the steering wheel, whether you’re searching for the nearest petrol station or contact in your address book, handily downloaded via Bluetooth connectivity.

Greater customisation is possible through a front facing USB port to allow alteration of on-screen wallpapers and backgrounds – downloaded via www.clarion.com - whilst individual user data, whether it be POI’s (Places Of Interest) or favourite destinations, can also be backed up on to an external USB device.

Measuring just 29mm thick, the slimline unit can be mounted unobtrusively and connected to an appropriate Clarion head unit in the dashboard to display all data. The NAX973HD is priced at £795.00, with in-dash units compatible with HDD navigation starting at £699. Alternatively, Clarion’s top of the range dashboard mounted MAX973HD CD/DVD multimedia player, comes with the HDD navigation technology already loaded, and is available from stockists for £1499.
