Nationwide welcomes Kitty Ussher's push for Child Trust Funds

Robin Bailey, director at Nationwide, comments on Kitty Ussher, economic secretary's announcement about Child Trust Funds (CTF), made today: "We welcome Kitty Ussher's announcement today that the Government will be actively encouraging families to contribute to their children's Child Trust Funds. The three initiatives they propose will remind parents and grandparents about the importance of saving for their children and how even the smallest amount of money put by can make a huge difference over the long term.

"We are disappointed that so few people are making additional contributions to children's funds. The Child Trust Fund is a great, tax-efficient savings vehicle enabling parents to build a nest egg for their children. Encouraging a culture of saving in children can make a real difference to their lives and by topping up their Child Trust Fund on a regular basis, parents and grandparents can really help to give them a head start in life."
