Stoke celebrates BUPA's extended provision of care

Stoke-on-Trent's very own darts legend Phil Taylor opens a community fete, on behalf of BUPA's Stadium Court Care Home, on Saturday 18 August.

The fete marks both the launch of a £1.3 million extension to the home and BUPA's 60th anniversary of providing superlative healthcare.

The fete promises activities and entertainment for all ages and will also feature displays by the local emergency services.

The event celebrates the end of building works at BUPA's Stadium Court Care Home. Extensions to three of the five houses in the development have added an additional 18 en-suite bedrooms, promising the highest standards of care and comfort to local elderly people entering residential services.

Speaking on the occasion, Phil Taylor says: "Older people deserve dignity and regard - two key elements which are at the heart of this care home extension, and it is a pleasure to play a role in bringing the local people together to celebrate the older members of their community through this fete."

The home, specifically designed with residents' comfort and mobility needs in mind, will now accommodate 168 people. The home offers specialist care for the elderly and is respected for its dementia expertise. Set in landscaped gardens, each house in the development has its own character, and residents are encouraged to bring personal items to recreate that 'home from home' feel.

Home manager Sandra Bradbury said: "We're very excited to see the way in which our vision has taken shape and how the extra space has enhanced the feel of the home. We are proud of the end result and we would like the local community to share it with us through the open day and fete."

The home is located on Greyhound Way near Burslem Cricket Club and Festival Park shopping complex, close to Stoke on Trent.
