Potential for big cash savings in eco homes

With systems such as solar panels, harnessing energy from the sun’s rays to heat the home, and heat pumps bringing warmth up from the earth, all homes at Fusion make use of the latest cutting edge eco-technology. Along with excellent levels of insulation, double glazing and energy efficient light bulbs, these systems are considerably reducing the homes’ dependency on traditional heating systems and ensuring warmth is retained within the home.

Retired business manager Alex Woodward is delighted at the financial advantages of his new home. As a former engineering apprentice and DIY veteran, Alex estimates he has made savings in the region of £600 on his usual energy bills. He comments:

“My water bills have been halved and heating costs have decreased dramatically since moving from the old family home last year. Something as simple as the inclusion of a water-butt in the garden to conserve and recycle rainwater makes a big difference given the increasing restrictions during summer. I have a working knowledge of home heating systems and have been amazed at how energy-efficient the condensing boiler and central heating system are in this house.

“I have witnessed these homes being built, which has enabled me to gain a better understanding of the effort that goes into making them energy-efficient. High levels of insulation appear to be key to this and my wife and I have really noticed the difference in the warmth and dryness of our home.”

Using the National House-Building Council’s Standard Assessment Procedure (SAP), the average home scores 75 out of 120. Across all its homes, Linden scores an average rating of over 90, resulting in greater comfort and lower fuel bills. Fusion has been officially credited with an ‘excellent’ eco-homes rating.

Ian Randall, Managing Director of Linden Homes South East added: “I am delighted to hear that our customers are behind the extensive investment we have made in green technology at Fusion, which is our flagship eco-development. Many of the energy efficient measures introduced here will be rolled out at future developments, and I am confident future customers will be equally excited about making financial savings as well as helping the environment.”

While Woking town centre is just a ten-minute drive away, Fusion looks out across the rolling Surrey countryside and provides residents with fantastic views over open fields.

Homes currently available range from the three-bedroom, two-bathroom Cavendish home for £324,995, to the four-bedroom semi-detached Jardin home with a south-facing garden and garage for £409,995. Buyers of the Jardin will benefit from 2% stamp duty and legal fees paid, as well as £3,000 vouchers to be spent at Linden’s state of the art interiors store, Furnishing Touch in Caterham.
