Wandle on by Townends in Mitcham are marketing an apartment built on the site of the former Crown Mill at London Road, Mitcham, Surrey. Overlooking the River Wandle and forming part of the Wandle Valley Conservation Area, the new three storey Crown Mill building was designed in the style of a late 19th century industrial building, the original building having been destroyed by fire in the 1960’s.

There were originally three mills upstream from Mitcham Bridge, the Ashby Brothers’ Grove flour mill which has now been restored and converted into apartments, the building of the Crown Mill, occupied by the Mitcham flock and felt works and the old snuff mill. All three mills depended on the Wandle for power.

The Wandle Valley has long been a place of industry, and was once one of the most heavily worked rivers with over 100 working mills.

17 Crown Mills, Mitcham is on the market for £239,950. This apartment is situated in a modern gated development and comprises two double bedrooms, communal gardens and allocated parking.

Further details are available at Townends.co.uk.

The property is ideally situated for commuting, with Mitcham station just over half a mile away and Morden tube station just over a mile away, taking the Northern Line into London Waterloo.
