Top honours for Woodham Park

At a glittering ceremony at London’s Dorchester Hotel, Woodham Park was recognised in three hotly contested categories including ‘The Best New Small Development’, in which it was highly commended, while former Show Home Warnborough House not only won ‘The Best New Family Home with up to 5 Bedrooms’ category, but was also named ‘The New Home of the Year’, beating all other entries.
The judging panel described the property, which was on the market at £1.8 million as being "outstanding, with genuine wow factor".
It’s easy to see why this exclusive collection of homes has wowed the panel, made up of both industry experts and members of the public. Combining a traditional exterior with a thoroughly modern interior - its open-plan kitchen/living room with generous conservatory providing the real ‘hub’ of the home, in addition to a formal dining room and family room - Warnborough House is equally suited to family living or entertaining on a grand scale.
And here, the outside space is just as impressive as that within – in the secluded back garden, bordered by mature specimen trees and sloping gently to the tranquil waters of the Basingstoke canal, it’s hard to believe that this gated development lies less than 2 miles from Woking’s bustling town centre, with its excellent links to London.
As the award for the New Home of the Year might suggest, the specification offered by the properties at Woodham Park is just as exceptional as their location. Kitchens feature hand crafted oak furniture by celebrity designer Mark Wilkinson, alongside a full complement of Miele appliances to provide all the technology a discerning chef could need.
Bathrooms, cloakrooms and en suites are fitted with sleek, white sanitaryware by Villeroy and Boch, and pre-selected rooms are wired to an advanced Bang & Olufsen cable network to allow purchasers the option to link both audio and video with full infrared remote control for the ultimate in home entertainment. Outside, gardens are designed and planted by Millgate’s Chelsea gold medal award-winning landscaper, some enjoying a southerly aspect.
This is the second time that Millgate Homes, regularly recognised in the Evening Standard New Homes Awards line-up, has scooped the top award. Director Jonathan Cranley says:
“We are absolutely delighted with this result. It’s fantastic that Woodham Park was recognised in two hotly contested categories, but Home of the Year is the award that everyone really strives for. What makes the Evening Standard Awards extra special is that they are judged not only by industry experts, but also by a panel made up from members of the public.
“The entire Millgate Homes team is passionate about creating homes to aspire to – it is something we strive to achieve in every home we build, whether a 2 bedroom apartment or a country house worth several million pounds - and this award recognises the dedication of every member of the team.”
While Warnborough House has already been snapped up, two properties remain at Woodham Park, with prices starting at £1,050,000. The Show Home is open daily from 10am to 4pm.
