The First Time Buyers Initiative (FTBI), run by national regeneration agency English Partnerships, enables eligible first-time buyers, who cannot otherwise afford to buy a new home, to contribute a minimum of 50 per cent towards the full purchase price using an affordable mortgage. Furthermore, FTBI homeowners can choose to reduce the amount payable to English Partnerships at any time by making repayments at the prevailing market value.
