Award win for family homes in Caterham

27th May 2009 Print
Award win for family homes in Caterham The Serrano at Liberty Park in Caterham by Barratt Southern Counties took the top award for the Best Family Home with up to Five Bedrooms at the prestigious Evening Standard New Homes Awards 2009, held recently at The Dorchester Hotel in London.

The awards were hosted by BAFTA-award nominated actor and comedian Rob Brydon. This was not the only award Barratt won at the awards; two Barratt London developments also took top prizes with a further three developments in Camber, London and Overton being highly and specially commended.

Liberty Park is an exclusive development of just 24 three, four and five-bedroom family homes on Stanstead Road in the semi rural village of Chaldon, just outside Caterham-on-the-hill.

“We are delighted that Liberty Park has been recognised by the Evening Standard awards, because they are one of the only awards to be judged by the public”, says Trevor Sawyer, managing director of Barratt Southern Counties. “It proves yet again that the traditional family home has lost none of its appeal.”

The Serrano is a well-planned, beautifully proportioned, five-bedroom family home, which offers three floors of spacious living accommodation in a highly commutable location. Nestled by the North Downs and with access to acres of Surrey countryside, it is within easy commutable distance of London.

Set back from the quiet wooded residential road, it has been carefully positioned within the development to maximise privacy and yet create a comfortable sense of community.

Totalling some 2,115 sq ft, The Serrano feels much larger, its ‘tardis-style’ layout offering plentiful space for families with children of any age. On the market for £625,995, the home combines space and a high specification quality to offer superb value for money in a highly sought-after area.

The stunning open-plan kitchen/breakfast room and conservatory are without doubt the focal point of this practical yet luxurious family home. The designer fitted kitchen comprises a stainless steel oven and chimney hood, four burner hob, integrated fridge freezer and dishwasher, silestone work tops and spotlighting. The stylish grey gloss cabinetry is further complimented by ceramic floor tiling.

Upstairs, the very large master bedroom with en suite shower room provides ample storage opportunities. There are also two more double bedrooms, a single bedroom and a family bathroom.

The second floor of The Serrano is a real bonus. Situated in the eaves of the house, the large room features a vaulted ceiling and two dormer windows looking out over the back garden. Tucked away from the rest of the house, this room offers great flexibility; it could be used as a teenage 'den' with cosy sofas and home cinema or a simply stunning master bedroom as there is also an adjacent shower room.

Through Part Exchange, Barratt Homes buys the purchaser’s existing home, enabling the buyer to purchase a new Barratt home. This takes away the worry of being in a chain and you can even stay in your old home until your new one is ready. With no estate agency fees to pay, or HIP to prepare, you save money too.

Barratt will also pay the first year’s premium to insure buyers against being unable to make their mortgage payments through no fault of their own.

Prices at the development currently start from £361,000 for a three-bedroom home, £540,995 for four-bedroom home and £625,995 for a five-bedroom home.
