First time buyers find homes at Bauhaus Leading developer Durkan Estates highlights the housing market has showed further signs of stabilising with a steep rise in the number of first-time buyers getting on to the property ladder at its Bauhaus development in Croydon.

Across the country, a total of 17,200 mortgages were taken out in June by people buying their first home, 26 per cent more than during May according to the Council of Mortgage Lenders. Plus around 45,000 mortgages were advanced for house purchases during the month, the fifth consecutive monthly increase and the highest level for a year.

Bauhaus has proved increasingly popular with first time buyers including 26 year old Caroline Lawrance who has purchased a one bedroom apartment at the development. Caroline comments: “Purchasing my first home was a daunting experience. There are so many options out there for first time buyers and I spent a long time researching what was affordable. With prices dropping, I decided it was the perfect opportunity to purchase a property that would hopefully secure a future for me on the property ladder.”

“I previously lived in Kent with my parents and wanted to remain closeby but also find somewhere which had good commuter links to the office in Holborn where I work for a Classical music agency. Croydon suited me perfectly and after looking at all the new build developments in the area, I visited Bauhaus and instantly new it was where I wanted to live. In comparison to the other homes in the area, the apartments at Bauhaus offer better value for money and a great specification. I am so pleased I now have a home of my own.”

Bauhaus is a beacon of contemporary new-build design in the heart of Croydon. The eye-catching, tall new build building has fantastic views over London and includes new flats with parking and a selection of mews houses. Each new home is finished to a high standard with a keen eye on the design details you look for in a modern new home. Features include contemporary Lemongrass kitchens with integrated stainless steel oven and ceramic hob, luxury bathrooms with ladder towel rails and ceramic floor tiling, balconies, interior designed communal areas and much more.

The development is centrally located just off Croydon High Street and within walking distance of Croydon East train station. It is also right on the doorstep of Croydon’s cultural quarter with its variety of shopping and entertainment facilities, and will be ideally placed in the heart of the town’s exciting future developments.

Prices for apartments at Bauhaus start from £155,000. Interested purchasers can visit the Bauhaus marketing suite and showhome, open every day from 10am to 5pm. For further information and to arrange an appointment, visit bauhaus-croydon.com.
