Glittering launch for retirement village in Mayford Mayford Grange – the area’s ground-breaking, age-exclusive retirement village – has been officially opened by the Mayor of Woking Cllr Tina Liddington at a glittering launch event.

Around 100 people attended the invitation-only champagne reception at the new development close to Sutton Green Golf Club in Mayford.

“This is a wonderful addition to the Woking area and I am sure that Retirement Villages will have no trouble in selling these homes,” said the Mayor, as she unveiled a plaque to mark the occasion.

Guests were entertained by West End singing waiters Soprano Bella and there was background music from classical guitarist Steve Bean.

Visitors were given tours of the new £16 million pound development which has been designed exclusively for the over 65s.

There are 46 private apartments built around a landscaped square and connected walkways with clubhouse facilities including restaurant, coffee bar, lounge and patio area, shop, hairdressing salon, library, computer station and function room.

An on-site Retirement Villages care team is available to help with just about anything from shopping assistance through to personal, social and nutritional guidance, should it be required.

There is a choice of one and two bedroom apartments either on ground floor or first floor level and most have views across to the surrounding countryside and adjacent golf course. There is lift access throughout all village buildings. Prices range from £225,000 up to £470,000.

Friday’s private launch was just the start of a month-long series of events to celebrate the opening of Mayford Grange.

Other planned events this month include: a complimentary lunch/talk on ‘The Making of a Village by the Chief Executive Jon Gooding on September 15; a complimentary lunch/talk by the Head Golf Professional from The Belfry Peter McGovern on September 17; a charity weekend supporting The Orpheus Centre on September 19/20 and then a complimentary lunch/music recital on September 22.
