Work begins at the next phase of Royal Arsenal
Building work has already begun on the next phase of apartments at Berkeley Homes (East Thames) Ltd Royal Arsenal development in Woolwich, SE18.Launching in June 2007, the Armouries is a collection of 455 studio, one, two and three-bedroom new build apartments surrounded by an existing listed building, which is being painstakingly refurbished.
Berkeley Homes has already removed the face from the clock tower of the building and has begun restoring it to its former working glory. The Armouries will also boast a number of cafes, bars and restaurants. First completions are expected to take place in Spring 2008.
Royal Arsenal is the restoration and refurbishment of one of the largest centres for the manufacturing of military equipment and munitions into one, two and three-bedroom apartments and penthouses.
It is conveniently located for easy access into the city. Woolwich Arsenal train station is a five-minute walk from the development and offers regular services to London Bridge, Waterloo East, Charing Cross and Cannon Street. Alternatively, the extended Thames Clipper’s fast ferry service also offers easy access to Canary Wharf, Embankment and Westminster on board their high-speed boat service. The DLR service is also being extended to Woolwich and will open in 2009.
A few properties still remain for sale at My HQ, the largest and most impressive of the refurbished buildings at the development, which offers a collection of one, two and three bedroom apartments and penthouses.
At the heart of the building is an internal courtyard, which has been designed by architects Broadway Malyan, and provides residents with a tranquil and secluded place to relax. Many of the properties boast dual views overlooking the courtyard and nearby Wellington Park.
The penthouses at MyHQ offer white laminate kitchens complete with Bosch appliances. The bathrooms and shower rooms feature steel Kaldewki baths and double-sized shower trays as well as square ceramic basins, chrome ladder-style towel rails and ceramic tiled flooring.
All of the apartments benefit from walnut veneer entrance doors and satin stainless steel iron-mongery, some with frameless glass balustrades and brushed stainless steel handrails to Juliet balconies, pre-wiring for satellite television, electronic door entry system, secure underground parking and a dedicated 24-hour concierge and CCTV monitoring.
The development also features a residents’ only gym set in the renovated Shell Foundry Gatehouse, which provides a historic setting for a workout. Those in pursuit of leisure activites would also be advised to enjoy the Riverside Walk that runs from the development alongside the River Thames towards London.
Prices at My HQ start from £200,000 for a one-bedroom apartment and penthouses are from £340,000. For further information about MyHQ, to arrange a viewing of the show apartments or to register your interest for The Armouries, visit Royal-arsenal.co.uk.
