The Landmark wins prestigious property award

24th August 2007 Print
The Landmark, the iconic residential development in Canary Wharf is to receive two awards in the prestigious Daily Mail UK Property Awards 2007.

The full extent of this success, in the categories of Best High Rise Development and Best High Rise Architecture, will be revealed at the gala dinner at the Royal Lancaster Hotel in London on Friday, 5th October.

The Landmark development is currently being developed by Chalegrove Properties and comprises two stunning towers of 644 private apartments; The West Tower (31 storeys) and East Tower (45 storeys). Completion is scheduled for 2010.

Neil Young, CEO of Young Group, The Landmark’s owner, comments, “The tremendous interest already generated by The Landmark is testament to its premier location and quality, and highlights the stark difference in value being offered at comparable residential developments in Canary Wharf. The Landmark is currently under construction, being developed by Chalegrove Properties. The fact that three years ahead of completion it has won, not one, but two of these coveted accolades, is proof that it stands out within the highly competitive UK property arena.”

All 276 apartments within the 31 storey West Tower have now been reserved and apartments within the iconic 45 storey sister tower will be released for sale on 29th of August, priced from £355,000.

Henry Squire, partner of award-winning architect, Squire and Partners, comments, “We’re delighted that The Landmark has been recognised in this way. We designed the development not only to integrate into the urban fabric of the surrounding residential and commercial areas, but also as a destination in its own right, making use of a series of public spaces to encourage pedestrian flow through the scheme. The focal point of the development will be a central landscaped piazza, housing cafes, restaurants and shops to aid the regeneration of the local area whilst establishing the development as a place to visit.”

Entries for the prestigious Daily Mail Property Awards 2007 were judged by a panel of professionals whose collective knowledge of the property industry is second-to-none. Chaired by Eric Pickles, British Shadow Secretary of State, this year’s judges included Imtiaz Farookhi, chief executive of the National House Building Council; Peter Bolton King, chief executive of the National Association of Estate Agents; and Phil Spencer, property expert and presenter of Channel 4’s Location and Relocation TV programmes.
