Royal Arsenal – an inspiration Visitors to Royal Arsenal in Woolwich are being wowed by a new, inspirational sales and marketing suite, designed to help buyers of The Armouries envisage their new apartment.

Berkeley Homes (East Thames) has invested heavily in a state-of-the-art centre that encompasses presentation apartments; technology-based information points and highly trained sales staff.

The easily accessible marketing suite is located on Plumstead Road in a more prominent position that predecessors, fronting on to Woolwich’s busiest thoroughfare. The light and airy open-plan building offers purchasers a chance to experience the visionary plans for Royal Arsenal, coupled with the interior design flair of Tara Bernerd, Designer and CEO of Target Living.

Presentation apartments are essential when buying off plan as they offer purchasers the chance to understand the size, layout and specification of their property, despite their home being under construction. Berkeley Homes (East Thames) has placed great emphasis on attention to detail in the presentation apartments, showing how the open plan layouts can be used to maximum effect, while also offering interior design inspiration.

Tara Bernerd, Designer and CEO of Target Living, has created the three-bedroom presentation apartment while a two-bedroom apartment has also been dressed by Berkeley Homes. Both apartments demonstrate the upgrade packages available to purchasers buying at The Armouries, showing how each apartment can be made individual with a choice of fittings and finishes. Each presentation apartment also has a balcony in situ, as it would have in the finished apartment. To the rear of the sales and marketing suite is a choice area, where purchasers can see a range of upgrade options and colour choices side by side.

Target Living’s CEO, Tara Bernerd, and architect Thomas Griem are responsible for the interior architecture and design specification at The Armouries. All of the apartments offer contemporary open-plan interiors. White gloss kitchens units with concealed handles come complete with black laminate worktops and stainless steel Bosch appliances. Bathrooms feature white sanitaryware and vinyl floor covering. The properties also feature balconies that run the full width of the property, and that are accessed via the bedrooms and living areas.

A huge interactive plasma screen in the centre of the sales and marketing suite offers visitors a virtual fly through of The Armouries, giving purchasers the chance to see the building from all aspects, while a highly detailed model shows the position of The Armouries and the other buildings at Royal Arsenal. Visitors to the suite can also find out more about the history of the development, its location on the River Thames and its proximity to landmarks in the south east.

Once purchasers have taken a tour of the sales and marketing suite, they can retire to one of the sofas to mull over ideas and make decisions in comfort. And always on hand are Berkeley Homes’ staff - full of information on Royal Arsenal, the local area and the house buying process in general.

The Armouries is a collection of 455 studios, one, two and three-bedroom new build apartments set over six floors and associated commercial space that will include cafes, bars and restaurants. The apartments are surrounded by the Carriage Works - an existing listed building and clock tower that Berkeley Homes is painstakingly restoring and refurbishing to its former working glory.

Residents can enjoy the lagoon at the heart of the building, while vehicles can be parked in the secure underground car park. The Armouries even has its own on-site combined heat and power (CHP) plant that will produce heat, power and hot water for all properties in the Armouries building

Royal Arsenal is conveniently located for easy access into the city. Woolwich Arsenal train station is a five-minute walk from the development and offers regular services to London Bridge, Waterloo East, Charing Cross and Cannon Street. Alternatively, the extended Thames Clipper’s Fast Ferry Service also offers easy access to Canary Wharf, Embankment and Westminster on board their high-speed boat service. The DLR service is also being extended to Woolwich and will open in early 2009.

The first release of apartments at The Armouries comprises 70 one, two and three-bedroom apartments and prices start from £250,000 for a one-bedroom apartment and rise to £315,000 for a three-bedroom apartment.
