Flagship New Cross development ‘The Atrium’ launched

12th October 2007 Print
Flagship New Cross development ‘The Atrium’ launched The Atrium, a flagship development in the prime regeneration area bordering New Cross and Deptford, in S.E. London, is being released to market by London developers Union. Offering a high quality of design and specification usually seen at the top end of the market The Atrium’s striking contemporary façade and carefully considered design details make it the first development of its kind in the area.

Designed by multi-award winning architects Weston Williamson, the £11 million mixed-use development combines 23,000 sq ft for 26 one and two bedroom apartments and 2400 sq ft for commercial use. Construction has already begun with completion scheduled for 2009. Up to one third of the apartments will be sold off plan with prices from £265,000.

Union specialise in developing distinctive apartments in up and coming urban locations close to public transport and local amenities. Every development is designed with Union’s ‘expect more’ philosophy in mind and always offers features not normally found in mid-market developments that add to the pleasure of living there.

At The Atrium open plan interiors offer contemporary design features and clever functionality, like sliding walls which allow for flexible layouts to increase living space or create a spare room. Underfloor heating, Pronorm by Poggenpohl kitchens, Bosch appliances, Grohe taps and glass mosaic wall tiles are used as standard. A dramatic central stairwell with atmospheric lighting is the building’s focal feature, providing a striking thoroughfare to each apartment.

Only five minutes from London Bridge and fifteen minutes from Central London by train The Atrium is located in one of London’s best value property locations and offers excellent investment potential with its numerous transport links and plans for regeneration.

In the last twelve months alone prices in the area have increased by 23% and are set to continue rising. Regeneration plans include a new Deptford Mainline station designed by Lord Rogers, the redevelopment of King Henry VIII’s former Naval Dock, Convoys Wharf, and the East London Line Extension.

Nearby Deptford High Street was recently credited as being the best shopping High Street in London* with its diversity of independent local shops and vibrant street market. In recent years Deptford has attracted a thriving community of artists, designers, City workers and media professionals. This trend is extending into New Cross, which is best
known as the home of Goldsmiths’ College, the UK’s leading creative university, whose famous alumni include Vivienne Westwood and Damien Hirst. Most recently New Cross has been heralded as the birth place of Nu Rave and is fast gaining ground as a hip destination. Historic Greenwich, recognised as a World Heritage site and home to London’s oldest Royal Park, is only a short walk away.

This is the second development launched by Union. The company recently launched The Arthaus in Hackney, an iconic building in the former home to the influential Flowers East gallery, and has already lined up further sites with planning permission.
