New live/work show apartment at West 3
The new show apartment, unveiled by Berkeley Homes as part of their latest collection ‘The Courtyard Apartments at West 3’, showcases how the live/work properties at the development can be used in practice. The styling of the apartment by Connections in Design demonstrates how flexible these spaces are.
The Courtyard Apartments are a collection of 15 one-bedroom live/work properties in Bromyard Avenue, Acton, ranging in size from a generous 845 to 1,076 sq ft and offering workspace areas between 280 and 359 sq ft.
Connections in Design chose a scheme for the interior design, which would create a relaxing ambience for the living space and a professional atmosphere for the work space. According to Mark Oseman from Connections in Design, the apartment has been dressed in a palette of cream, walnut and orange with chrome fixtures and fittings to create a young and contemporary feel.
“We combined luxurious textures including leather, soft voile and heavy weave fabrics. The large corner leather sofa in the living area creates a homely feel, while we created a separate working area that features straight lines for a more professional environment. Most people find it more productive to work in an area that feels business-like, even if they are working from home. The working area includes a pull-down bed as many purchasers may want to use the area as a guest room at weekends. We also used graphic detailing and unusual artwork throughout the apartment to create dramatic focal points,” explained Mark
The bedroom has been decorated in neutral colours and accented with bright orange. Luxurious details including glass sliding door built-in wardrobes, an orange shot silk padded headboard and textured cushions complete the room. The walnut kitchen perfectly complements the light and airy living area, which is ideal for entertaining.
For a more professional feel, the working area which is separate from the open-plan living space, continues to use the orange and cream colour theme but with accents of black and grey. A desk complete with computer and internet access and plenty of storage space ensure a home worker has everything they need.
The Courtyard Apartments is the latest phase of the West 3 London Apartments, which sees the respectful transformation of the former Ministry of Pensions Building. This impressive building, which was completed in 1922, is now being respectfully converted into 350 studios, one and two and three bedroom apartments and two and three bedroom penthouses. Many of the original features of the building, designed by James G. West, the Principal Architect of Whitehall, have been retained. These include dramatic entrance halls, wide staircases and high ceilings.
West 3 London Apartments boasts a Business Suite with conferencing and office facilities, making it ideal for purchasers of the live/work units who want to hold business meetings in a professional and slick environment. Incorporated in to a separate contemporary building and located adjacent to the scheme, this residents only hire service provides access to cutting edge conferencing and office facilities including full networking support for PC technology, a private hire dining/board room, kitchen and shower facilities.
West 3 London Apartments is situated just a short walk from East Acton Underground Station on the Central line, which provides fast and efficient links in to the City and West End in less than 30 minutes.
Prices for The Courtyard Apartments start from £420,000. A number of studio, one, two and three-bedroom apartments also remain for sale in phase three and are priced from £235,000 for a studio apartment.
