An ideal family base in West London

13th February 2008 Print
An ideal family base in West London According to figures from propertyfinder.com, nearly one quarter of buyers are forced to purchase a smaller home than they originally wanted, with the demand for three and four bedroom housing massively outstripping supply, to the extent that the shortage in the family housing market threatens to reach more than 350,000 in 2008.

Although London and the Home Counties will be hardest hit, Crest Nicholson’s latest development at GreatWest Gate in Osterley, West London, is proving to be an ideal option for the middle-market buyer.

At only half an hour from Central London, the selection of 4-bedroom villas are perfectly suited to families looking for easy access into the capital, with local amenities as well as open countryside situated right on the doorstep.

The properties at Greatwest Gate are set around a central courtyard surrounded by playing fields. At three storeys, the homes feature an open plan living space with a kitchen/dining room and lounge. In addition, buyers will have the option to specify the inclusion of an additional dividing wall in the downstairs area, if required. All four-bedroom villas feature three double bedrooms and a single bedroom with ample storage space and en suite facilities to the master bedroom. Furthermore, GreatWest Gate boasts the additional security benefits of being a gated development, with the villas all offering two parking spaces and a few properties featuring garages.

The development is located just off the A4 Great West Road, which offers a direct route into the West End via Hammersmith and Knightsbridge, as well as access to the M4 Junction 2 to Heathrow Airport, or the M25. Osterley Underground, on the Piccadilly Line, is under a mile away, whilst Ealing Broadway, Hounslow, and Chiswick High Road are all within easy reach.

For families, one of the biggest attractions at GreatWest Gate is its proximity to local schools. There are twenty-four primary schools, as well as a number of secondary schools, all within a two-mile radius. Meanwhile nearby Osterley Park is an important National Trust Property, whilst Riverside Walks along the Thames provide an almost unbroken path from Kew to Twickenham.

GreatWest Gate was formerly a campus of Brunel University, and the new homes have been designed to remain in keeping with their historical surroundings through the use of red brick work, stone course detailing and dormer windows.

The university was established in 1966 to specialise in science and technology and was named after the famous Victorian engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel whose many achievements include the Great Western Railway, from which this development takes its name.

Commenting on the development, Mark Vanson, Sales and Marketing Director at Crest Nicholson (South) said:

“This is a great location for families, with the combination of 1- and 2-bedroom apartments as well as larger 4-bed villas helping to attract a diversity of buyers and establish a real community environment. In particular, we are seeing a lot of interest from professional couples who need to live within close proximity of central London, yet equally want a safe, secure base from which to bring up a their children.”

Prices at GreatWest Gate start from £219,950 for a one bedroom apartment, whilst 4-bed villas are priced from £499,950. Crest Nicholson are also offering a part exchange scheme, allowing families to benefit from a hassle free move with the promise of homes being ready for occupation as early as Easter.
