Affordable new homes at St George Wharf St George, London’s leading mixed-use developer, is providing a further 41 affordable new homes to the Notting Hill Housing Group at it’s award winning St George Wharf development in Vauxhall, SW8. To celebrate the occasion, Kate Hoey MP for Vauxhall formally opened the affordable homes in Kingfisher House.

On February 29th at 12pm, Kate Hoey viewed the development, and visited the new affordable apartments and show apartment with Alan Cole, Chairman, Notting Hill Housing Group and Kate Davies, Chief Executive of Notting Hill Housing Group alongside St George representatives and guests.

Michael Meanley, Managing Director of St George South & Central London said: “We are delighted with our continued working relationship with Notting Hill Housing Group. St George Wharf is a perfect example of a sustainable brownfield development, providing high quality housing accommodation, in close proximity to a major public transportation network.

“The development continues to grow from strength to strength and has become the new heart for the area with the new Riverside Medical Centre and a number of popular commercial outlets including Young’s Riverside bar & restaurant and the new lifestyle gym, ‘Movers and Shapers’.”

Kate Davies, Chief Executive of Notting Hill Housing said: “We are very proud to be continuing our work with St George and Lambeth Council. At St George Wharf we are able to deliver affordable housing in a beautiful aspirational development. Notting Hill provides a range of housing for sale and rent, which we support with housing management, good neighbour agreements and projects to help our tenants into work.”

One of London's most central riverside developments, St George Wharf also benefits from a Tesco Express store, Hudson's dry cleaners, a Lloyd's pharmacy and 'Souk', a new Mediterranean style restaurant, set to open Spring 2008.

To date, 173 affordable homes have been completed as a result of the continuing strong relationship between Notting Hill Housing Group and St George, with a further 175 affordable homes due to be completed by spring 2010.

Kate Hoey, MP for Vauxhall said “It is fantastic to witness a housing association and developer working in partnership. I am delighted to see how successfully the area has been converted into a vibrant destination offering something for everyone. Quality affordable housing within a prime location such as this should be used as an example to all”.

St George Wharf also features a 275 metre riverside walkway and a landscaped Mediterranean style piazza linking it to the rest of the South Bank. Excellent transport links at Vauxhall Cross connect to Central London, Clapham Junction and Waterloo train stations and Heathrow Airport.
