Barratt unveils new apartments in Kennington The site of a demolished 1960s tower block in Kennington, south-east London, is to be transformed into a striking new Barratt development of over 200 apartments. The development - called Kennington Park Square - is under way on land bounded by Black Prince Road and Kennington Road, SE11.

It will provide more than 120 one and two-bedroom apartments for sale at prices starting from under £250,000.

"We think this is outstanding value in such a central and convenient location" said Barratt East London sales director Gary Patrick. "Opportunities to regenerate on this scale are rare in Lambeth and we are already getting a great deal of early interest."

The Kennington Park site has been one of Lambeth Council's regeneration priorities for some years. The former tower block, Kerrin Point, was damaged by a basement boiler explosion in June 1997. As a result, the tenants were re-housed and the site cleared.
The £42 million new development - which will also include some housing for local tenants and shared equity buyers - comprises a range of buildings rising to a maximum ten storeys.

Kennington Park Square will include some private parking for residents plus newly-landscaped open space for use by residents. Lifts will serve all floors through stylish common areas and there will be a daytime concierge service.

All homes will have fully-fitted designer kitchens, complete with integrated appliances, plus fully-fitted bathrooms, including en suites in the two-bedroom homes. All apartments will have balconies or terraces from which to enjoy the views.

Kennington Park Square is in an outstandingly convenient location, just a few hundred yards from Kennington Underground which offers services to London Bridge in five minutes, Leicester Square and Bank in seven minutes, and Kings Cross in 16 minutes.

Vauxhall mainline rail station is around half a mile away, while the Imperial War Museum, Lambeth Palace, the South Bank and the Thames are all within easy walking distance. Borough Market is less than two miles.

Prices at Kennington Park Square are expected to start from £249,995 for a one bedroom apartment. The development will be launched in May, for more information, visit Barratthomes.co.uk.
