Construction begins in Southwark

27th May 2008 Print
Premier East London apartment builder Telford Homes is continuing south of the Thames this summer with a number of new developments in the London Borough of Southwark.

Telford Homes has commenced construction on the first two new developments which are on Queens Road, SE15 and will then convert a former industrial site on Queens Row, SE17. The two six-storey sites on Queens Road to be released first are located almost opposite each other, will have 25 apartments each for open market sale (as well as six each for shared ownership) and will be a mixture of one, two and three bedroom apartments. The later four-storey site on Queens Row is a small conversion into just 14 one, two and three bedroom apartments on Walworth Road. The estimated completion date for the first two developments is autumn 2009.

All sites will be designed and built to Telford Homes’ extremely high standard and fitted out to the quality specification normally associated with the Company. Apartments will come complete with floor coverings and kitchen appliances as standard and the dedicated Telford Homes’ customer service team will provide exceptional service before, during and after completion, for owner-occupiers, landlords and tenants alike.

Telford Homes’ new south London sites are all well located, close to good transport links and amenities. The Queens Road developments are a two minute walk from Queens Road Peckham station, from where it takes just seven minutes to reach London Bridge. The Queens Row development is a fifteen minute walk from Kennington tube station on the Northern line for fast access to the West End and the City.

Queens Row is close to the green space of Burgess Park with its tennis centre and cycling track. Queens Road is close to Peckham Rye Park with its lovely ornamental gardens, woodland and lake. Both sites are near shops and restaurants as well as facilities such as cinemas, theatres and arts centres. Nearby East Street and Peckham Rye markets add local vibrancy and colour to the area.

Projections for the south London market remain strong and Southwark has an active regeneration plan in place, 40% of the Borough is under regeneration with works valued at £4billion. The Queens Road sites fall within Southwark Council’s regeneration plans for the Queens Road area, which includes a £6.5m upgrading and expansion of Queens Road Peckham station together with a possible new tram route along Queens Road to Elephant & Castle and across the river to Camden Town.

Sheena Ellwood, Sales and Marketing Director at Telford Homes, comments: “We are excited to be taking the Telford homes brand south of the river again and pleased to be offering apartments in such well-connected locations, with excellent transport links and a huge amount of regeneration happening in the area already.”
