Luxury duplexes offer sublime views of the Thames

Luxury duplexes offer sublime views of the Thames Two luxury duplex apartments with stunning views over London and the Thames have been unveiled at The Elektron, Barratt's latest development close to Canary Wharf in London Docklands - and the tallest building in the company's 50-year history. With three striking apartment towers, The Elektron has already changed the Docklands skyline, rising to a maximum height of 25 storeys (76m).

It has also defied market gloom by achieving well over 380 sales ahead of the construction programme. Less than 50 apartments remain available for sale.

Now, with the completion of the development's central tower, two spectacular two-bedroom duplex apartments covering the 20th and 21st floors have gone on sale.

Barratt East London sales director Gary Patrick says: "The Elektron has captured the imagination of the homebuying public from the outset, which is hardly surprising as it occupies a prime site just strolling distance from Canary Wharf - a fabulous location, with a Docklands Light Railway station right next door.

"These duplexes are the icing on the cake, perfect for anyone who leads a busy working life in the City or at the Wharf. They make spacious, convenient, luxury homes with sensational views."

The Elektron is on the site of a former electricity switching station off Aspen Way at East India Dock, Leamouth, and comprises a total of 437 one and two-bedroom apartments.

Designed for Barratt by the award-winning architects, Halpern Partnership, The Elektron will include newly-landscaped open spaces for use by residents, two exclusive health and fitness suites, plus some commercial space.

All homes have fully-fitted designer kitchens, complete with integrated appliances, and family and en suite bathrooms, with most apartments having balconies from which to enjoy the views. Lifts serve all floors through stylish common areas and there is some private parking for residents. There is a daytime concierge service.

The luxury duplexes extend to almost 1,100 sq ft - larger than the average four-bedroom house - and include two fully-fitted bathrooms, a downstairs cloakroom, and very large terrace overlooking the river. The terraces even have a designer ‘shed' for storing garden furniture etc.

Residents of The Elektron benefit from rooftop wind turbines and solar energy collectors fitted to the towers to make a renewable contribution to energy needs. Each of the three towers has a 2.5 kilowatt wind turbine and a 2 kilowatt photo-voltaic (PV) solar panel array. The development also has an environmentally-friendly communal heating system producing almost 30 per cent less carbon emissions than a comparable conventional system.

As well as being convenient for Canary Wharf, the City and nearby City Airport, this part of Docklands has excellent rail communications with the City and central London. In fact, The Elektron has its own pedestrian link with East India Dock DLR station.

Aspen Way itself is part of the new Docklands road network which connects to Blackwall Tunnel, the A13 trunk road, the North Circular Road, M11 and M25.

Currently available at The Elektron are one-bedroom apartments from £285,995 and £399,995 for two-bedroom apartments, all with great over London and the Thames. Another pair of rooftop duplexes will be launched in the western tower later this year.

A fully equipped marketing suite is open; complete with show apartments.
