Strong demand for new homes in Watford
Barratt North London has secured planning permission to build 223 apartments in Cow Lane, behind Sainsbury's, in the heart of Watford. Symonds Park, on the site of a former print works, will be the housebuilder's sixth development in the town, addressing the strong demand for new homes in the area.More than 400 apartments and houses are currently being built by Barratt in Watford at Queensgate in Derby Road; West Gate Mews in Whippendell Road; Willow Grange in Church Road, The Xchange in Exchange Road and The Pulse. Also planned for the town is a development of 56 homes in The High Street.
Glyn Hopping, managing director of Barratt North London, says: "This year we are celebrating a decade dedicated to building quality new homes in Watford and are delighted to have the opportunity to build a further 154 private apartments and 69 affordable homes in Cow Lane. We will be starting construction around August time, however I would advise prospective buyers to register their interest with us now."
The development will provide one and two bedroom apartments in landscaped grounds with a play area and car parking. Around 17,000 square feet of commercial space will include offices, a crèche and gymnasium.
Watford has much to offer in terms of facilities and excellent travel links, making it popular with buyers. The town's Harlequin Centre has more than 145 stores. The town also includes an Asda, Tesco and Sainsbury's, a variety of home, office and DIY stores, a cinema and a gym. The mainline railway station is around a ten-minute walk from the development and the M1 and M25 are within easy reach.
