First time buyers flock to Whitechapel Depot

First time buyers flock to Whitechapel Depot Notting Hill London, the private sales division of the Notting Hill Housing Group, has announced that its first scheme in London - Whitechapel Depot on Greatorex Street - launched in March 2007 is now all sold. Whitechapel Depot’s popularity stems from being reasonably priced and design-led, and conveniently located in the East End within a mile of the City, in one of London’s most vibrant neighbourhoods.

A significant number of first-time buyers - a whopping 45 per cent - chose Whitechapel Depot as their initial step onto the property ladder, and 25 percent of purchasers came from the local area.

Formerly the home of the Whitechapel Royal Mail Depot, the Brownfield site was regenerated into a collection of 51 newly built studio, one and two bedroom apartments. Notting Hill London’s initial scheme has seen a steady stream of sales activity from the start, particularly from first-time buyers trying to get on the property ladder.

To illustrate Notting Hill London’s commitment to design, the company appointed Studioilse - the design consultancy founded by Ilse Crawford, founder of British Elle Decoration - as Creative Directors to shape the design identity of the show apartment at Whitechapel Depot and its future developments.

From the interior planning to specifying the finishes, fixtures and fittings, bespoke Notting Hill London apartments are being produced by one of the most recognised names in British design.

Richard Prynne, Development Director of Notting Hill London comments: “Whitechapel Depot’s success underlines what everyday Londoners want - reasonably priced, design-led, well-located homes. Whitechapel Depot is a model scheme which we are already emulating in current and forthcoming sites around London.”
