Barratt to build 56 new homes in Watford's High Street
Barratt North London has acquired its seventh site in Watford, demonstrating its continued commitment to providing quality new homes in the town. The development at 53 High Street will offer 56 apartments, 17 of which will be affordable homes.More than 700 apartments and houses are currently being built by Barratt in Watford at Queensgate in Derby Road; West Gate Mews in Whippendell Road; Willow Grange in Church Road, The Xchange in Exchange Road; The Pulse in Beechen Grove, and Symonds Park in Cow Lane.
Glyn Hopping, managing director of Barratt North London, says: "We purchased the land in Watford's High Street earlier this month (July) and are delighted to be bringing more homes to the heart of the town."
The development will provide one and two bedroom apartments, all of which will meet level three of the Government's Code for Sustainable Homes; a benchmark for the design of new homes to ensure they include eco-friendly elements. Criteria examined under the Code ranges from energy and CO2 emissions, materials, pollution, waste and water to ecology and health and wellbeing.
Watford has much to offer in terms of facilities and excellent travel links, making it popular with buyers. The Harlequin Centre has more than 145 stores; the town also has an Asda, Tesco and Sainsbury's, a variety of home, office and DIY stores, a cinema and a gym. The mainline railway station is around a ten-minute walk from the development and the M1 and M25 are within easy reach.
