The Lockhouse - A smart development in Camden

The Lockhouse - A smart development in Camden Sarah O'Connor and Daniel Rawlinson had to move down south from Preston when Daniel's employers transferred him to London. The Lockhouse, Barratt West London's stunning development in Camden alongside Regent's Canal, caught their eye as they searched for somewhere to rent.

They've secured a two-bedroom, two bathroom apartment for £2,500 per month at this prestigious location in one of London's most popular areas.

The young couple, both 24, had just two days to find somewhere to live. "I'm very fussy," says Sarah. "I wanted a modern place, I decided, after looking at around 30 properties, both old and new."

Both admit that London presents them with many more opportunities for both work and fun than where they lived before. Recently graduated, Sarah has just secured a job as a graphic designer and Daniel is a personal trainer.

Their stylish new home has its own particular appeal. They love the communal gardens, which are very well used by residents. The couple also enjoy the opportunity to be around other people; in Preston they rented a house, but found was a more solitary life than that in a development like The Lockhouse.

"London is really exciting. I've never met such a diversity of people before," confesses Sarah. "It's great. And I'm really enjoying it here."

Although the development has attracted good rentals for investor buyers, a large proportion have also been bought by owner-occupiers insuring there is an established sense of community.

The development is conveniently located within walking distance of Camden Town underground station, providing links to both the tube and rail networks. There are direct services to Euston, King's Cross and Waterloo from Camden Road railway station and it's easy to head either east or west on the Silverlink Metro. Hampstead Heath, Primrose Hill and Regent's Park are all nearby.

The Lockhouse comprises studios, one, two and three-bedroom apartments and penthouses, many with balconies or terraces overlooking either the canal or the split-level landscaped courtyard.

It offers a new benchmark in metropolitan living with a sleek, elegant façade, large windows and exceptionally smart, contemporary interiors. Eco-friendly solar roof panels that track the sun supplement the development's electricity supply. There is also a fitness room and a 24-hour concierge service.

These features should particularly appeal to buyers looking for attractive investment properties.

All the studios have now been sold. One-bedroom apartments at The Lockhouse start from £330,000, two-bedroom apartments from £499,000 and three-bedroom apartments from £895,000. For further information, visit Barratthomes.co.uk.
