Watford school children enjoy a wonderful day with Barratt

Watford school children enjoy a wonderful day with Barratt Pupils from Nascot Wood Junior School, Watford recently enjoyed a wonderful day at Barratt North London's Willow Grange development in Church Road, north of the town centre.

The 60 children, aged 8 and 9, were taken on a special tour of the scheme where 174 homes are currently being built. The girls and boys were kitted out in hard hats and high visibility vests and then given a safety talk before being taken around the site. Demonstrations by the fork lift truck and digger drivers were a big hit and everyone got a chance to try their hands at brick-laying.

During a questions and answers session, the children were asked to point out dangerous things at the development, such as sand, scaffolding and wiring, and were left in no doubt that building sites are definitely not playgrounds.

Glyn Hopping, managing director of Barratt North London, says: "We were very pleased to show the children what goes on at a building site. They looked at plans, had a good walk around and finished with a visit to the new show apartment."

David Holcombe, head teacher at Nascot Wood Junior School, said: "I'd like to thank Barratt for hosting the site visit at Willow Grange. The girls and boys were very interested in all aspects of the building work and took away with them some very important safety messages."

The gated development was launched at the end of January and includes a substantial Victorian building, which was extended in 1991, and newly-built homes, set in 4.8 acres of mature parkland grounds. Many of the apartments overlook an attractive rectangular pond. Part of the landscaping includes a green open space at the front that will be accessible to the general public.

The location of Willow Grange is ideal, only a mile from the centre of Watford and offering easy access to the M1 and M25. Watford Junction railway station lies approximately half a mile to the south of the development and provides direct access to London Euston with a journey time of around 20 minutes. Watford Underground station, around a mile away, is located on the Metropolitan Line. There are also direct bus links to Heathrow Airport.

Prices for newly-built one-bedroom apartments start from £202,500, two-bedroom apartments from £262,500 and four-bedroom houses from £470,000.
