A new creation

1st September 2008 Print
Once home to the offices of Creation Records, a building in Berkley Grove, St John's Wood has been transformed into a spacious four bedroom family home, currently available to rent though Knight Frank for £4,000pw (unfurnished).

Creation Records was founded in 1983 by Alan McGee; it soon became a key label in the mid-1980s. With early artists such as ‘The Jesus and Mary Chain' and ‘Primal Scream' the label soon developed a reputation for being a hide-out for misfits and outcast from the rest of the music industry.

Financial troubles meant that half the label was sold to Sony in 1992, and in 1993 a new band called ‘Oasis' signed with Creation. In 1994 there album ‘definitely maybe' was released and went straight to number one. The band went on to epitomize the cultural Britpop movement and Berkley Grove became a haunt for the famous.

Other bands to sign to the label were, ‘Super Furry Animals' and ‘The Boo Radleys.' Adding to the list of celebrities to grace the property were Meg Matthews, Patsy Kensit and Fran Cutler, the most celebrated party organisers in London who also decided to set up office in this unique building.

The property will have Oak flooring throughout and be decorated in a light and spacious manor. The large eat in kitchen will contain a Gaggenau stove, solid limestone surfaces and a double American fridge. There are four bedrooms, large reception room, study and library. There is outside space in the form of two terraces and a courtyard with two parking spaces.
